How would you like to see some of the greatest jazz musicians perform live with a 67-member orchestra comprised of Hollywood’s top studio musicians? Soloists like George Duke, Lee Ritenour, Christian McBride, Dave Grusin, or The Yellowjackets? Well, that’s what the Symphonic Jazz Orchestra is all about. And we’d like to share our passion of jazz through the power of our orchestra with you.

The Symphonic Jazz Orchestra (SJO) is in our 11th year, bringing together the worlds of jazz and classical music together through memorable concerts and its award-winning Community Outreach Program. We have commissioned eleven new works, performed six world premieres, three U.S. premieres and have performed dozens of free family and educational concerts, master classes, assemblies and workshops.

The SJO shines brightly in the many lives we’ve touched through our free educational concerts and in-school residencies from Kindergarten to 3rd grade. We have reached over 30,000 students and their families by producing specially designed educational series such as our “Bach to Bebop” and the “Orchestral Instruments Workshops” programs. Our educational presentations provide music across Los Angeles County, predominantly in schools that have no other music or arts offerings.

2013 is an exciting year for the SJO. We invite you to learn more about the only organization of its kind in the country. Watch the video below and sign up for our mailing list.
