Over 4,000 elementary age students from across L.A. County participated in the Symphonic Jazz Orchestra’s “Music in the Schools” residencies each week throughout this school year.  One of the residencies, “Bach to Bebop,” for students ranging from 2nd to 5th grade, included a final assembly performance.
In eight assemblies this week spanning from Watts to Long Bach to Culver City, students sang music from Duke Ellington, improvised with members of the SJO, and premiered original blues songs they composed during the school year.
